This article was published in 1899 in //Contributions from the United States National Herbarium//, vol. 5, No 4. It deals with many genera and species, including Cacti, Agave, Yucca, etc. and their use as food, beaverage, medicine, soap, fibers, fence, brush, etc. Illustrated by many B&W plates of the nineteenth century, this is a very interesting document half way between botany and anthropology.
