problems with an Aloe

A friend of mine is having some problems with her Aloe. She says the stem of her aloe grows very weak and is unable to support the plant as it gets bigger. What could cause this?
Bonjour, Corina! Too much water, perhaps, or not enough sun. Where is your friend keeping the Aloe? La revedere! Francis

she is keeping the plant at a window, so it gets plenty of sunlight. as for watering, she says she waters it every other 2 days.. i was wondering if there are some illnesses that might affect it. its is an aloe that has medicinal powers.

Hi,

Aloes are not really plants for inside growing. They are better outside, but it may not be possible in your case.
When grown inside, then tend to etiolate, which seems to be the case. For a human, near the window is a lot of light, but not for some plants.

Yann
Also, watering every two days seems to be excessive. I have two or three aloes and I doubt that I water them even once a week. La revedere! Francis

P.S. I still owe you a photo of Nancy and me! I have not forgotten.

i'll tell her that too. even though i water my aloe every other day. but, perhaps, she waters it too much.

P.S: I'm glad you remembered about the photo. how was the trip?
Thank you for asking, Corina! The trip was wonderful! We visited about eight caves with prehistolric paintings, engravings and drawings. We had some of the world's experts such as Jean Clottes and Jim Keyser as our guides. It is amazing to think that for a period starting about 32,000 years ago until about 12,000 BC there existed a culture that produced this art work (perhaps to them it was not art but something else). It was fascinating; it was exquisite; it was mysterious; it was the best. Unfortunately, I cannot show you photos as photography is not allowed in these caves. As always in France, especially in the Southwest, meals and wine were outstanding.

Perhaps, we can tell you more if our hiking trip to Romania next year becomes a reality.

Nice to hear you had such a good time. To a certain degree, I envy you. I can't say I know much about France, but I think it is a country full of wonderful things to see, with a rich history and many secrets, just waiting to be discovered. I wish I visit France one of these days..
