Is this the appropriate forum for asking for help? If not, can you make suggestions as to where I can get help for the following?

I had a 50 year old cactus stolen from me this past fall. It was given to me 35 years ago by my Dad. It has served as my Christmas tree for the last 8 years. I would like help identifying exactly what kind of cactus it is (it has night blooms in the summer) and some educated guesses about what I can reasonably claim as its value. I have pictures of cuttings given to friends that I can post if someone indicates that s/he can help.
