Aloe blooms
January 12, 2009 01:54AM
Greetings. Aloe flowers help get one through a long winter. Some bloom almost all year, and some I had never expected to bloom, like my A. plicatilis. What a surprise to see a flower stalk on such a small plant of only one fan.

This is another winter blooming Aloe, maybe A. branddraaiensis.

Thank you all. The Opuntia is one that a friend brought me from his visit to the West. I only keep it because of that. This year it was planted outside, and I'm not sure it will make it through the winter. I have many more opuntias, this one is a little bit big for my conditions. Just like the Europeans, I am finding that if you keep small plants, you can have many more. These big opuntias are a pain to grow.

Almost all my large Aloes are winter flowering. This is what blooms here now. clin d'oeil
