Hello,

Your plant is most probably Portulacaria afra, a really nice succulent plant. However it is not a cactus.
You can make nice bonsai looking plants with it: [www.google.fr]

Yann (France, Clermont-Ferrand). Serre tenue hors-gel + pleine terre un peu abritée. -10°C tous les hivers.

What's the problem exactly?
Do you have a photo?

This plant do not like too cold tempratures, nothing below 5°C.

Hi

Temperature is ok
but your plant need most light
when the stems become thin is that they lack a lot of light
