rescued from the trash - Aloe or agave?
June 29, 2018 01:42PM
I found theses plants in a rubbish bin 2 years ago.
Until now I have treated them like an agave nana or an aloe, not much water, lots of light, banana peel and olive oil as fertilizer.

The plant seems healthy as I keep getting new babies.
My problem is that the plant gets tall but never grows larger or stronger.
The exterior leaves dry and die, while on the inside new plants appear constantly.
What can I do to make it stronger and avoid adult leaves to die?
I have already tried more light, tying the plants to avoid the break of outside leaves....
I wonder if my chopsticks tutoring system is so efficient!
Thanks for your help cactus cf6

Hi,

There is some room for improvement sourire

First, the soil does not seem correct: it looks like 100% peat. You should give them a cactus soil, a lot more mineral, less organic.
Then a lot more light. At this time of the year, at least in France, you can grow them outside. Just be very careful the first days to avoid sunburn! Then they should grow thick and succulent sourire

Merci pour ta réponse Yann,
Quelle proportion de terre à cactus tu recommandes?
tu penses qu'il s'agit d'un aloe ?

Bonjour,

Oui, Aloe. Du substrat cactus classique, regarde ici : substrat cool
